Rebuilding a Ford 289

Hi folks-- yesterday we started cleaning the Tony's garage to get ready to rebuild a Ford 289 to put in his 1967 Mercury Cougar. One slight detour today -- putting in a 8.8 rear end from a 1998 Ford Explorer into the car. I'll keep you all informed as we go!

  2. For those that are interested, the 1998 Ford Explorer 8.8 rearend is a good restomod candidate for Classic Mustangs and Cougars alike. Disc brakes, 31 spline axles, 3.55, 3.73, or 4.10 gears and identical flange-to-flange width. Hopefully John will post the pictures of the finished rearend for everyone to see the work we did.

Concerning the engine build, more details to follow from John, but it will be a Aluminum headed 331 Stroker.
